ARTIST STATEMENT
People escape in many different ways. My choice of escapism begins with pen and
paper as my being flows into strange, new forms. Creation is not just an
activity of comfort, but a form of control. While existing with chronic illness, I feel most myself when I am creating. My work manifests dream-like beasts infused with divinity, illness, and a multitude of selves. They are my protectors, capturing my lived experience within realms of abstraction. My beasts protect me. They imbue all I create.
The forms I create are physically rendered in a variety of sculptural and illustrative techniques, approached from a vantage point of passionate experimentation. My first love will always be the ink pen. As an extension of myself, my art represents both human and thing; Subjects caught between worlds.
