CABINET OF CURIOSITIES

A cabinet of curiosities is collection of unusual objects and trinkets that are displayed in multi-compartment cabinets. They were popular in Europe during the Renaissance and often included rare or historically important objects. They were like microcosms of worlds.

My cabinet was made with simple wood-working, using scrap wood planks from Mass MoCA. The center tile was made with plaster, sculpted to resemble the inside of a machine. I filled it with found objects and trinkets from my bedroom that I felt offered pieces of my identity through visual interests; A blend of art, tech, and generally nerdy paraphernalia.
