PAIN BOOK

Pain Book exists in three parts: First, a documentation of chronic illness (lupus erythematosus), second, a documentation of the draconid EP, and third, a documentation of the Starbeast project. It is something you’re forced to take your time with, to hold in your hands and be gentle with. It is interactive in that way, filled with texture, writing, and the context behind the author’s pain/creation.

The book was made by binding three sewn booklets inside of a cut and folded “cover”. The spine stitch was an
unconventional process, meaning it was made it up as it was done. I believe it acts as a metaphor for broken body, and how it works to keep us upright despite its burdens.
